The front is open wide and there is also a large cutout opening on the side that kids love for play. The height is 49.5 inches giving you an easy reach to tuck your child in for the night. Additional modules allow for various configurations, so the room can be customized in all sorts of ways.
Space saver: Can be set up in a corner of the room (the stairway is on the left side and cannot be installed on the right side). Stairway allows safe, easy access to the bed.
Under the steps: Compartments with metal handles finished in metallic gray ? storage spaces can also be accessed from the left side.

4 SouthShore Mobby Loft Bed-Good, but.., May 19, 2016

First, our 5 year old girl LOVES this bed. She calls the area under the bed her 'Secret Space' (I hung up a simple curtain under the loft area). She also loves the 'Cubbys' in the steps and shelves on the foot of the bed. She stores her dolls and other toys there. The bed is just high enough for her 'Secret Space' but not so high we can't lift her into bed when she falls asleep elsewhere.

Second, The material is particle board with a white plastic laminate on the exposed surfaces. It is sufficiently thick to keep the assembly solid. As a rule, my husband assembles furniture with wood glue and additional fasteners to improve longevity.

The bed arrived in 3 HEAVY boxes. Fortunately, assembly was based on the box number, box #1 was 1st. assembly module, then #2, then #3.

PROs; Instructions were good and clear. Hardware was bagged and seperated into each module (box) so assembly of that module had all hardware present. A 'Spare' hardware bag was included, just in case something broke, was lost or missing. (We didn't need it) Sufficient fastening points (for the most part) were used to keep the bed solid.

CONs; Although the two vertical panels between the bed and steps had dowels and cam locks, it was mis-aligned (by about 1/8"), noticable. The 2 bottom panels of that same module had NO alignment hardware of ANY kind. My husband had to glue and clamp those panels together and let them stand over night to cure. (Very strong now). Although the boxes were well packed and protected, some damage to 2 panel edges did occurr (due to poor handling by the carrier). We decided to proceed as tese edges would not show from the front.

The instructions had an estimated time for assembly, (2 hours, and 50 minutes) which was about right (excluding the overnight cure for the glued panels). The assembled bed is to large to fit through the door so he couldn't glue ALL the modules together.

Overall, everyone likes this bed, it was exactly what our girl wanted.
