ANSWER: When you break the crib down to a toddler bed it has a one side rail.I didnt think I would like it but now I love it.You can buy a temporary one.Now that she is potty training it is so perfect.With side rails they struggle to get out of the bed whether it be to get mom or dad or to go potty,and she is also learning to balance in the bed.This was the best purchase I made and it is just beautiful.What I have learned is having 2 side rails is not the best option.you wont be disappointed... by L R 4/9/2013

ANSWER: Sill using as a crib. No guard rail was included but I believe no guard rail is needed for the conversion. Bought this for our grandchild and love this crib. Very sturdy and a beautiful piece of furniture. Very pleased with this purchase! by G A 4/7/2013

ANSWER: No, it does not come with a toddler guard rail...you would need to buy it separately. IMPORTANT! Please note, you actually need to buy an additional piece to even convert this crib into a toddler bed at all.
Honeslty, we did not buy this crib to one day convert it into a bed. We just liked how the crib looked and thought the price was good. We never converted our crib...instead we just bought an actual toddler bed for our toddler, so our newest baby would have a crib. I cannot give any input on using it as a toddler bed, but as far as a crib alone...we like it. by Amber B 4/7/2013

ANSWER: We had our son in February of this year. He is currently still sleeping in the crib and he's six months old. We have had no problems with the crib at all. It's a nice piece of furniture that we hope to use all the way through until the bed stage. The only thing is that it does not have a conversion kit. This is not a problem since we can just buy a guard to keep him from falling out once it is a toddler bed. by A L 8/19/2012

As a crib I have had no issues at all. The color is beautiful and timeless. I am concerned however that as a toddler bed there is no side railing. I may just go buy my daughter a new toddler bed and use this for her new brother or sister that's on the way.
