The Portofino Convertible Crib is a 4 in 1 crib that contains three mattress support levels while providing a sleigh like design with high headboard, sloping side rails and lower front rail with slender feet and open slats. Rail kits can be used to transform the convertible crib into three different beds. The Changer is attached to the wooden crib and also continues the sleigh design with side curved moldings, square feet, high back, sloping sides and lower rail to keep baby safe. On the side of the baby changer are three shelves perfect for diaper and linen storage. At the front of this changer are three drawers with glides for easy use. Each drawer has abundant storage for clothing or diapers. This wood constructed changer will detach from the crib as your child grows older and can be used for further storage. QUESTION: Does the changer have to stay attached while in the crib stage or can it be used separately? by None N 8/7/2013

ANSWER: I am unsure. My granddaughter is 20 months and is still in the crib. We have had no need to attempt to separate the two pieces. I can telll you I am impressed with the quality and sturdiness of the furniture. My son and his wife are very pleased with it. by Y R 8/17/2013

ANSWER: The changer is attached and cannot be removed. Only the pad comes out, but I would recommend buying a different pad because the one it comes with is very thin and cheap. Hope this helped. by Dawn J 8/9/2013

ANSWER: Actually I bought the standard size one at babies'r'us and when the furniture came it didn't fit. But the nice thing is it comes with it's own pad you don't need to buy one. For coverings for the pad i bought blue pillowcases (boys nursery) and ran a sewing machine down on side to make it a little slimmer and it works great! by Beverley N 8/26/2013

ANSWER: I purchased a Summer Infant contoured changing pad (36"x16"x4") and it was too long by a few inches. I still used it but had to squeeze it in there. The width (16") was perfect though. by danitza g 8/7/2013

ANSWER: It actually comes with a changing pad. Fyi, none of the changing pad covers fit it very well. You can still use one, but it fits very loose. Other than that it has been great. by Shawnya J 8/6/2013

ANSWER: I think this comes with a pad but its 16 wide x 26 deep....the height at the shortest part of the changing table is 5 inches without a pad in place. by Amanda L 8/6/2013

ANSWER: I couldn't find a changing pad that would fit. This changing table is smaller than the average size. It comes with a thin changing pad & I just purchased changing pad liners which fit perfectly. by Sheila R 8/6/2013

ANSWER: It comes with a thin pad of its own, but is not a standard size. We never did find a cover or thicker pad to fit the changer. Other than the extra storage I didn't find the changer to be useful, he outgrew it very quickly. We prefer to change the baby on a pad on the floor instead. For the next baby we won't bother with a changer. The quality and color of the furniture is great though. by Adam S 8/6/2013

I am completely satisfied with this purchase. Sometimes when you but furniture offline it comes and it\'s al flimsy and cheap feeling. This crib, changer, and glider are all pretty sturdy pieces. My husband and I even went store hopping to compare. There was truly no competition out there. This purchase was a great buy. I would purchase something else without thinking twice
