ANSWER: This dresser is mostly solid wood but does have some particle board. I would recommend this to a friend. I've had it for two years and I'm expecting my second son any day and I've moved it into the nursery and it still looks brand new. by R E 7/9/2012

ANSWER: Very few pieces of furniture are made these days from solid wood, and those that are, are typically not sold as pieces you assemble and are generally carried in high-end stores. I don't recall precisely, but assumed it was not real wood. However, I have been using this piece for almost two years (my grandson is 22 months old and I watch him full-time while my daughter is at work, so it gets a lot of use), and love it. It's an extremely attractive piece of furniture and when we no longer need the changing table portion, will remain in his room as a dresser. There are three drawers that are very roomy and when my grandson tries pulling the drawers open, the dresser remains steady on the carpet and (so far) has not tipped over. <br /><br />As for assembly, it took about an hour and the instructions were a bit confusing but overall very typical for assemble-it-yourself furniture. Just be sure to lay out all of the parts first before beginning assembly to avoid mistakes. <br /><br />Bottom line - I would definitely recommend this beautiful, well-built piece of furniture to anyone looking for something that can remain in a nursery long after a child has stopped using his/her crib! It is a great value for the price. by J K 7/4/2012
